Background

The Climatopia project was designed to foster climate action and sustainability in line with the European Green Deal’s goals. Using innovative tools like comics and games, it aimed to make climate science more accessible and engaging, focusing on enhancing students’ understanding of climate change and encouraging eco-friendly behavior. The project emphasized Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed for a sustainable future.

Objectives
The project had four main educational pillars:
Learning to Know: Building climate science knowledge.
Learning to Do: Encouraging hands-on problem-solving through simulations.
Learning to Be: Promoting personal responsibility and environmental awareness.
Learning to Live Together: Encouraging teamwork and empathy for collective environmental action.

Implementation
Climatopia developed a variety of educational materials, including comics, games, and handbooks for students and teachers. It also organized professional development webinars, transnational meetings, and multiplier events to engage wider communities.
