Key Action: Partnerships for cooperation and exchanges of practices
Action Type: Cooperation partnerships in school education
Summary
The CoACTION project fosters democratic school environments by actively engaging all members of the educational community in decision-making and promoting democratic values in school life. It equips teachers with the skills to guide students in developing key competences for active citizenship and lifelong learning while upskilling school leaders to integrate democratic principles into school quality management systems. Through European collaboration, the project broadens educators’ perspectives on democratic education and strengthens the Whole School Approach. The project delivers three key results: the CoACTION Sensor, a set of questionnaires for assessing democratic culture in schools; the Democratic Empowerment Platform, an interactive online space with implementation guides and tools for sustainable democratic engagement; and the “Year of Democracy”, a pilot programme supporting 10 primary schools in embedding democratic practices into their school development plans.
Target Groups:
- School leaders and administrators implementing democratic school management.
- Teachers fostering student engagement in democratic participation.
