Summary
The VRTEACHER project addresses the evolving needs of teacher training by introducing an immersive Virtual Reality (VR) tool that enhances educators’ skills in navigating complex classroom scenarios. Traditional teacher training often lacks hands-on, practical experiences, leaving educators unprepared for the challenges they may face. The VRTEACHER project bridges this gap by providing an innovative VR-based platform where teachers can practice teaching in realistic virtual classrooms. The project trained over 300 educators across partner countries through workshops, using VR scenarios to simulate challenges like remote learning, psychological distress, cultural diversity, and inclusion issues. The initiative fosters a culture of continuous professional development and demonstrates the value of VR in transforming teacher education. The project’s outcomes include a comprehensive competence framework, a user-friendly VR application with scenario-based simulations, an impact assessment framework, and a handbook of best practices for integrating VR into teacher training.
